Andy S
The oil temp sender unit in the side of my new Appolo is VERY tight on the first thread,so much so that i don't want to force it. I realise that the sender has a tapered thread, but after one thread everything goes solid, this can't be right. Does anybody know the thread size in the Appolo so that i can clean it up with a tap? Thanks in advance Andy K18 FUN
Grim Reaper
Which oil temp sender are you using? If it's a Stack type, brass with two terminals then it's more than likely a 1/8"x27 NPTF thread tapered on the sender. You will need a 1/8"x27 NPTF tap in order to make the threads fit. The hole in the apollo may not be this size so be sure before trying to run it through with the 1/8" tap.
Andy S
The oil temp sender is a single terminal brass type as supplied in the Apollo kit direct from Caterham. Andy K18 FUN
Grim Reaper
Are there any markings on it? Like T6811 or 21/02 or -03-? In which case it probably isn't 1/8"NPTF,I'll have to get my screw pitch gauge out to see what that type of sender is.
mav
Not 100% but think it is the same as the water temp sender
Andy S
Just checked unit for any markings. Can just make out TT6811 -03- on one of the flats hope this makes the identification a little better. Thanks for the help so far. Andy K18 FUN
