Swiss_Tony
A powerslide for longer than 3 seconds is easy! All you need is a lsd (the mechanical component rather than the drug 😳) and lots of power 😬 Having the tracking set to toe out tad and a fairly stiff rear end will help no end! andy couchman
The Tiff makes a good point on power sliding in a recent Autocar. He learned on his mum's Morry Thou and indeed James Hunt apparently kept an Austin A35 so that he could drift the thing whenever he wanted to. The best way to achieve a drift at will is to have: - more power than grip - a not very grippy surface (that can rule out some tracks) - for the same reason wet is better than dry - tight radiuses (ooh er missus) - a sensitive right foot. Perhaps the key is tight rediuses not least because when it does all go wrong (and it will...) the slower you are going the better. Holding a drift at 100mph may be fun but if it goes wrong you will need an awful long space to stop. Best bets: - supermarket car park in the snow (the only time I can 4 wheel drift my Discovery when not off road) - wet grass but make sure it's flat and don't use someone else's lawn... - roundabouts (but only if there's lots of space and no other traffic about) Would make a great trackday - or is that what the Brooklands days are all about? Enjoy. Andy Couchman
