milo
DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THE LOOM IS A CATERHAM PART ONLY OR COULD I TAKE ONE FROM A ROVER 214 , MG F .......!
Paul-R
Miles The loom Caterham use for the EU2 is based on the hatchback version of the Rover 200, although they modify the lengths and remove wires that are not needed on the Caterham. Paul
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted May 3, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted May 3, 2003 Miles - not sure if it's the same, but if you have access to a suitable loom - it would definately need to be a recent 1800 orientated loom - we could compare? All the bits on the engine are the same, therefore should be similar. Maybe worth speaking to the Caterham Technical helpline? Stu.
timbo
the caterham loom is essentially the Rover K series engine loom as paul rightly states BUT MODIFIED. There is a fair amount of work involved if you do it right such as stripping out unneccessary ecu feeds, wiring up the Rover loom connector to match the caterham loom connector, reducing wire lengths, matching connections to caterham supplied sensors. I did it for an EU3 loom. should have all my notes on file - though may not suit your needs for EU2 given ignition/coils differences. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted May 4, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted May 4, 2003 Miles, It's worth stripping and re-wrapping the loom anyway to enable the inclusion of additional cables such as the gear-change light. Also, when wrapping the loom can be "shaped" to fit exactly as you want it. Stu.
