bert
Hi techiers, Anyone know the weight advantage of the 13" Caterham mag wheels over the 'lightweight' r300 alloys? Just wunderin whether they're worth the extra why you would want smaller wheels anyway. Tah in advance, Bert
Peter Carmichael
You want them so you can fit ridiculously sticky race tyres like ACB10s and they weigh less than 4 kilos even for the big rears.

stevefoster
Peter is right. ~4kgs for the 8.5" wide 13 (I don't have a pair). I made the 6.5" 13 fronts at 3.2kgs. I have a pair of Mad'in formula rears 8.5" that are alloy and weighed 4.3kgs on the scales. The tyre guy didn't bat an eyelid at me wanting the rims off the rim/tyre rotating machine to weight them My racing pics, 7 DIY, race prep. Pierre Gillet
I will go for the Compomotive ML three piece with anthracite centers and silver anodised rims, because I want to keep the minilite look which is more suitable for my 40 th Anniversary. Tyres will be 205 60 13 and 185 60 13 A032Rs Yokos (because of their availability in France). Use will be exclusively track days. Weights are: 7X13: 5,3 kg, and 6x13: 5 kg I wonder what will be the tyre weight difference Vs my 185 60 14 A021Rs. Pierre
JamesA
Even with ACB-10s mounted on the wheels they are right at 20 pounds, the difference with the Caterham R500 wheels with ACB-10s and my road wheels with spare mounted is 80 pounds!
