elie boone
The Connections on my sleeve cil. are weeping, they are connical but even so they are always wet, they are a bit long so i can cut them a bit but that is the last option. Now is there a product to get it fixed ? The Loctite 577 witch i have on the connections does not withstand brakefluid.
Lawrence_Z
It would be best to redo the pipe end(s) ....new nut(s) too no jointing compound should be used ever. Lawrence BTW Fred has a most excellent brake pipe flarer than can be used in situ on the car, it's quick and really impressive....
elie boone
All the hoses are Aeroquip, but thanks for the info Lawrence.
Sheds Moderator
Agree, remake the ends. These things are designed to work dry, ie no sealant ever. Do make sure that you are using matching connectors.
philwaters
I'm currently having this problem too. I have just fitted a Ford axle and made up new braided hoses. The conections on ones side (the non-bleed side) is great, worked first time, but the other side I have re-made once already and it still weeps slightly. Not sure what to try next ☹️ - I need to get an MOT next week in order to get it on the road as well... Any ideas - how can I check that I am using a suitable connector? Phil Waters You mean you can drive these? I thought it was just there to polish 😬
elie boone
Philwaters, From memory i think they are 10x1mm threads, i made all my braided hoses ( BSR ) and had no problem at all. Maybe the connector is just to short and needs a copper or ali. wascher. are they the one's with a swivel head ?
philwaters
Yep, I have M10 x 1.0 and they are not too short as I got the long ones (also double as bulkhead fittings) so I know the convex end is hitting the concave seat, but it just isn't sealing. I'll take both bits along to a local m/sport place and seek advice I think. What is odd is the fact that both those on the drivers side are perfect.. Doh... Phil Waters You mean you can drive these? I thought it was just there to polish 😬
