TonyC
I am about to fit new stainless bonnet catches and springs, what is the best way to remove the existing catches (rivets), never done this before.
Alex Wong1697456877
I just drilled mine out using a slow drill speed. For the bonnet catches (rear ones) this meant tapping 2 rivets into the car but contrary to other reports, I haven't noticed them rattling away inside the tubes. CHRIS CLARK
I would suggest you put some PVC tape around the edge of the catch to be removed just in case you (heaven forbid!) slip. As Alex says, slow is the answer. Be very careful with the last rivet on the rear (large, 3 rivet) catch 'cos it can spin and drag the remains of the drilled out ones across in a nice (?) arc; don't ask how I know!!!! I assume they're Jim W's ones. Nice aren't they? I also assume you have cycle wings? This job was the only time I wished I had them 'cos of getting the angle right with (Beautiful) flare wings!!! Good Luckthumbsup.gif
