how to disconnect Rev counter plug

Having a potter and I decided to remove the Rev counter (seems a perfectly normal thing to do at 11.30pm on a boiling hot Wednesday evening to me).

How in buggery (*) do you remove the wiring connector? It's a 2002 k series 6 or 8 pin connector with two rows of pins. I've only got enough slack to get the gauge just clear of the dash. Don't want to pull too hard in case I break something as I've got a pass out for Saturday & want a working car. (**)

(* On googling this I found a Rev counter thread that didn't answer my question but did reference this word so I thought I'd continue the trend)

(** Which logically means stop playing but it's boiling hot and heat makes people do silly things)
