John Walker
Hi, I've just bought a caterham 300 with the intention of doing track days. I see that I have to upgrade the roll bar from standard to an FIA one. Does any supplier do an exchange on the standard one, or can the cross members be welded onto it. Or do I simply have to buy a new one. Any advice would be appreciated. Wrightpayne
They are often a different size and gauge of tubing and different fixings too. On the older cars you’d also need a different boot cover. Not sure on the metric cars. Its buy new and unfortunately the old ones don’t tend to have much value.
John Walker
Thank's for the tip, does everybody with an FIA bar have a standard one in the roof of their garage?

Miker7
I've just upgraded to FIA. My old one is currently sat behind the car whilst I find space in the roof. The old standard one is cheap tubular seam welded steel. The FIA bar is a lot heavier as it's made from thicker and stronger (cds) steel.
