Jonathan Kay
Which model? Is this the amber warning light, and is it on all of the time that the ignition is ON? The Owner's Handbook recommends an ODB scan. Jonathan
LeeD
Hi Jonathan, it’s the supersprint 60th anniversary model. Yes its on all the time and amber in colour, sorry to say I do not have a code reader and would not know we’re the port is and what to do as I am not that practical I am afraid Lee
cdt123
As posted on your blog just now: Common ones I’ve heard are as follows: Apparently the 160 etc are quite voltage sensitive so benefit being on a trickle charger (that’s what Millwood told me when I had an engine light). Subsequently reset mine and it hasn’t come back since. Others I have heard are to do with the MAF sensor, or throttle body (hopefully not that one). The error I had was a voltage mismatch between throttle position and pedal. I think if it happens again to me I’ll try replacing the MAF sensor next. On another thread someone also mentioned a faulty ignition switch as the culprit. Do let me know if you find any different! 😊.
CAT170
Did you find the cause and solution to your Engine Management Light problem?
simon_h
Buy a code reader and have a look. The codes are all standard ones and point you pretty well in the right direction. The obd port is under the grommet where the fuses are
smartizan
I have just had a possibly similar issue with my 170. I went to fill up yesturday and when I restarted the engine, the throttle was very rough and the engine would only run at low revs. I drove about 100m and then stopped. After switching off the engine and then the battery power via the isolation switch, I re-started and it ran fine. I came straight home and it seems fine today although the engine warning light is on. I have since bought myself a code reader and this is telling me error code "P2104 Throttle Actuator Control System Forced Idle". I am not sure what to do next - is it OK just to cancel the code or do I need to bring it in to a Caterham dealer (and if the latter, is it OK to drive?). I have checked the contacts around the throttle pedal and all seems secure.
