CPGCharlie
Hi Club,I've recently experienced 2 absolutely horrific experiences trying to get my 7 diagnosed and fixed. To the point of hoping the second garage has actually stolen the vehicle so I could claim the insurance. I dropped into the garage to find my prize possession discarded in the corner of a hanger layered in paint dust after going in for simple electrics diagnosis for gauges playing up. 11 weeks the car has been with them, ignored emails, disgusting woman on the desk completely unapologetic as if everything was my fault problem. No time line given for anything.Decision made to have the car cleaned and just picked up, no fixes, MOT run out while at their site. In the Berkshire Hampshire area, does anyone know of a normal, honest garage than can look at the electrical issues and gives quotes like a normal garage, and hopefully fix? Pretty much last plea before selling it as soon as it's MOT'd. Many thanks
Leadership Team Tigs Posted September 29, 2023 Leadership Team Share Posted September 29, 2023 Whilst not in the Berkshire/Hampshire area, if you can get a trailer and tow it down to the guys at PGM in Sussex, they will look after you and restore your faith in garages! My car is in Berkshire and I take it down to PGM for work.
Andy135
That sounds shocking. Possibly worth naming and shaming the garage(s) in question so that other Berks/Hants members can avoid?
Wrightpayne
Andy,Unfortunately, that probably breaches the Blatchat Code of conduct.Ian
Andy135
Probably, but as a Berks member I'm now quite concerned that there are two rogue garages in the area. PM please if that doesn't give the mods the sweats.
HendrixsWhiteStratReturns
Charlie/OPTalk to James Whiting based in Middlesex (Google James Whiting Sevens). Mine was cursed with a missfire that evaded all diagnosis, James sorted it in one session. He's a smashing bloke, he'll sort you out
wild bill
I spoke with Ruth last night from James Whiting regarding some bits and my understanding from her is that James has effectively retired but will happily still help if he can. They are Ashford based. I wouldn't give up on the car just because of some muppet garage. If it's electrical gremlins get the car home and get an auto electrician to come to yours. I've done this in the past. You can then drive the car to a recommended garage to get it MOT'd. While waiting for the electrician you can give it a nice clean and sort out.Unless you want the dull experience of pretty much any modern car i really do promise you that the frustrations will quickly disappear once you are behind the wheel of a functioning Seven

Jonathan Kay
Sorry to hear this.My first choice would also be to get it to a Sevens specialist.Otherwise I can recommend an auto electrician in Oxford, but you'd have to get the car there. And you could have a go at sorting it out yourself with help from BlatChat... if it's only the gauges and it's an analogue Seven that could work well. And a local Member might join in...Jonathan
rj
Gauges playing up could be as simple as the earth wire failing

They arranged transport from up here in Lancashire by a guy who transports for Bohnams and many others and is a really nice guy and very professional. The garage stored the car inside and returned the car in pristine condition. The work they carried out was brilliant and I can say they are a very professional reputable company. I had no knowledge of them prior to the work carried out on my car. If I was disappointed believe me they and the forum would have been informed.
