Member Jonathan Kay Posted September 26, 2023 Member Share Posted September 26, 2023 To display a higher resolution image you need to either use the original upload method, that starts with this tool:or copy and paste or link to the image on an external serverIf you use the shortcut upload, the one that starts with this tool:it automatically and irreversibly reduces the resolution.Jonathan
OldAndrewE
Anthony, I assume you are replacing one that is suspect, is the thread on it parallel (that will be UNF) or tapered (NPT)
anthonym
@JK this is using the upload tool.Andrew, well, it's not suspect, but while replacing many other bits it seems a nice thing to do, in fact it would be the only bit not replaced. Interesting in that I'd have to remove it to check things... I suppose I can do that being quick with my finger. What's NPT? (I'll google it). IN fact I'll go and stick my finger in the dyke. OldAndrewE
The UNF will seal against a fibre or copper washer against the head, the NPT taper thread will seal on the thread tightening in the hole
Member Jonathan Kay Posted September 26, 2023 Member Share Posted September 26, 2023 "@JK this is using the upload tool."As upthread... there are two different upload tools.Jonathan
anthonym
fresh pics in o p, looks tapered to my surprise, I thought not until putting the caliper across it. And does 487 mean anything useful?
OldAndrewE
I suppose one option is to ask the gauge manufacturer (I suspect at that age they will be Smiths rather than Caterham branded).Caerbont or Speedy cables should be able to tell you what a compatible sender will be4 87 Date of manufacture? anthonym
@jkyes the one you introduced me to that goes via the server. Let's call it the complex tool.As it happens since then the two of the sender above are just simple uploads using the simple tool.It seems if the image is already cropped and the subject covers most of the image area, the simple tool works, but if it does not and cannot be cropped, such as a text type document, then the complex tool is better.
