Bob L
Standard ARB, 23 years old. The dust covers are poor and need replacing. PWill change the balls also. Any tips for removal or is it just unbolt from the chassis and pull? Not sure what sort of tension is in there. What grease to use?Thansks, Bob
SM25T
Yes. Undo retaining brackets and pull one end out first. When refitting new balls, use a spot of loctite and tighten them by hand, otherwise they could crack.
SM25T
Just normal grease. Don't put too much into the socket, or you'll get hydraulic lock and not be able to push the ball home.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted July 5, 2023 Member Share Posted July 5, 2023 No special issues. The Assembly Guide recommends Loctite on the threads and bearing grease on the balls, as above.JonathanPS: Please let me know if you would like a copy. ChrisC
Depending on spec you might have to remove the radiator supports. If it's stuck and likely to need force to remove, I might be included to remove the radiator to prevent damage. In general the front ARB can be removed without removing the rad, but working on older cars things can escalate quickly.
