Area Representative Nico506 Posted June 22, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted June 22, 2023 Hi AllI have just acquired a set of pro tech shock absorbers for my Caterham Live Axle x flow seven , I understand spacers are required for the top and bottom rose joint mountings and ask how are the bearing spacers measured or specified ? Please to ensure correct clearance and tolerance - I currently have a pair of Avo shocks fitted with standard poly bushes installed.Any advice please or would Protech be able to assist ? Cheers
7 wonders of the world
Speak to Kevin at Protech, he will machine some up for you
JP
Seconded. They are a pair of brass(?) spacers that go either side of the rose joint top and bottom:
Area Representative Nico506 Posted June 23, 2023 Author Area Representative Share Posted June 23, 2023 Morning all, Thanks for that JP & 7 Wonders......Ill make contact with protect and the picture above is interesting with the shock absorber upside down so to speak with adjustment at the top mounting - is there a reason why this has been installed this way round?Regards and Thanks
SM25T
I was advised that the adjuster has to be at the bottom when I bought new Protech shocks.
7 wonders of the world
Protech are twin tube dampers and should not be run inverted, you increase the chance of cavitating the oil
Toby S
Me too - I've got mine at the bottom too
JP
I originally installed them the other way up, but was concerned about the adjuster picking up crud from the road. I spoke directly to Protech about flipping them before I did so and was told that there was no problem whatsoever.
