Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted June 19, 2023 Leadership Team Share Posted June 19, 2023 Details here although it's hard to determine exactly where your car fits in.My 1999 car is £325 ... the system is stacked against older cars, fine for a luxury toy but hardly fare on people who can't afford a newer vehicle. Amos91
An S1 Elise 1.8 is £325 this year.
simon_h
Its just because it has no CO2 figures for UK cars, they being IVA just have the MOT limits applied and are under the old PLG system, even new cars today.
John Vine
You could argue that, if IVA'd or SVA'd 7s were type-approved, the true CO2 figure might well lead to a VED higher than £325.JV
Drakman
Hmm, Is this what it costs to register a road car in the UK, 325 pound, or do you have to pay extra on top of that?
SM25T
Do you mean initial registration of a home build new car, or a newly imported vehicle ?
heptagon
Road tax costs have become an utter comedy if you have a few slightly older cars. I do a lot more SORN'ing now whereas it the past I'd have left cars taxed all year.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted June 21, 2023 Leadership Team Share Posted June 21, 2023 #8 Road taxation structure is a complete joke and the vast majority of the tax take isn't even spent on the road network. It's a disgrace and is basically green-washing.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted June 21, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted June 21, 2023 At £325 I consider it great value for the sheer pleasure of taking the Seven out on the roads.
krisfl
Agree. Though I do balance my 7 with a 1972 B GT which is tax exempt... So feel I have no place to complain... Also... Our family PHEV is £550 and we drive that everywhere in electric only mode... so in that context, £325 for a 'dirty old Seven' is a billy bargain.
