steering wheel out of alignment

For reasons can't quite understand, i have found the centre position for the steering wheel (2006 S3 series) does match with the front wheels. Can someone give me a quick guide on what to do line things up.  Thanks

Depends on the cause, do you have the exact same amount of turns lock to lock from centre?

If it's the same you'll need to get the car aligned.

#1 Are you saying it was correct but for some reason it has now changed?

.... as in a pothole impact bending the sacrificial steering arm on the upright ? Look at the gap between the disc and track rod and each side of the car.

Check camber and toe in are correct and toe out on turns  first before aligningsteering wheel.

Learning how to do the alignment at home with fishing line is one of the skills I'm most pleased with. It's not that difficult and once it 'clicks' it actually takes less time than driving somewhere for them to do it badly! Plus you can play with different set ups and see how it affects your handling.
