Type 9 Gearbox, Semi Helical gearset - How noisy is yours?

I have a Type 9 gearbox, with an SPC semi helical gearset in it, it works fine, no problems with gear selection up or down the box and it maybe just me, but it seems to be noisier than I remember in 3rd and 5th, especially so when coming down the box on a closed throttle. How noisy is yours??

there's some noise on mine but it's nothing compare to a SC gearset I had previously ..... 

when you say noiser than you remember....? is this an age thing.....  you not the car .....

assume yours has a 2.48 first, are you running a .82 or .87 fifth...?

Mine is alloy cased so this will alter the frequency etc

I've only done about 300 miles in it over the last 3 years, and been chasing a diff issue all that time. With a borrowed and quiet open diff now fitted it highlights the other driveline noises, probably been masked with my ear buds, but without those it just seems noisier in 3rd and 5th than I remember. Oil is Redline MTL, and yes to 2.48 first, as for 5th.....who knows, it;s in the paperwork somewhere.....

Noisy to the point of being unsuitable for road/touring use in my opinion, 2nd and 3rd especially.  It's the dominant noise in the cockpit by a margin.  I'm going to try some normal GL4 semi synth oil in it instead of MTL to see if that helps at all.

You need to get some throttle bodies - they drown everything out....
