Area Representative bluenose Posted April 13, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted April 13, 2023 I also use Comma 5w50 however it seems to have creeped up in price. Still cheaper than Motul which is nearly £20 more for 5 litres. .https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-147389-comma-motorsport-5w-50-fully-synthetic-racing-car-engine-oil.aspx
ScottR400D
#6 You don't put any in the catch tank or cam cover. It all goes in the triangular main tank.
Ian Lummis
Sorry I ment the triangular tank none in the rockercover then .
ScottR400D
No, everything goes in the tank. I normally put in the same amount as I get out by draining the filter and finger filter and extracting from the tank and checking after a few miles. Area Representative Geoff Brown Posted April 14, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted April 14, 2023 Once changed & run for a few miles the subsequent oil level in the tank should be checked hot. The level should be, quoting the Caterham instruction 'just below the first baffle'.Make of that 'just below' as you will. 1 inch, 2 inches? I adjust the level to about half an inch below. Torch with good narrow beam required.Of course any excess will make its way to the catch tank.
