Battery Tray

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've got a 2017 Roadsport with the battery mounted in the centre of engine bay, in front of the heater fan housing. I seem to have some damage to the battery tray (looks like a small battery acid leakage) and I'd like to take it out to clean up and repair/replace. Does anyone know if the allan bolts holding the tray down go into capture nuts under the housing, or do I need to somehow get underneath with a spanner ?

If the latter, how on earth do you get into the space underneath ?

Many thanks for any advice.

Not really familiar with a 2017 car, but often the battery tray is held by rivets.
Suggest you try slowly undoing the bolts. You'll soon find out whether they're captive or not.

Many thanks for the responses.

After a good look around I decide to put an allan key in and see if it would come out. After a bit of a nervous start - success !!! All four came out without problem and I've now cleaned and re-installed the tray.

Your responses (Paul & Jonathan) are very much appreciated.

Cheers

Sounds like your car is similar to my 2013 model.

The battery tray is held in place by four (M6?) caphead screws that go into rivnuts.  They can be removed from above easily.

If you need a replacement tray, let me know.  I have removed mine.
