timb2117
Very long story of awful Australian registration woe, but is anyone able ot state what the TARE or laden weight and GVM unladen weights of a Caterham Seven should be (this is a 2005 Roadsport SV, with 1.8 K series)It would be ahuge help to be able to find this out at the end of a 4 month epic to get the car registered.... In advance huge thankyou for your time. Tim
timb2117
Sorry should add yes I know it should be on the compliance plate but it isnt.
Andy135
How precise do you need to be? This article quotes all K Series Roadsport models at "around 550kgs".https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/car-reviews/caterham/seven/roadsport-sv-range/
SM25T
Tare is the empty weight (unladen). GVM is the all up (max) weight with people, fuel and luggage. Don't get it the wrong way round !
simon_h
It possibly depends on when IVA required the weights to be on the chassis plate as to whether yours should have it on there, they do for type approved cars. The current plates have 860kg as GVW, 360kg as front axle and 500kg as rear axle weights I believe. Never seen one with the unladen weight on.
timb2117
Many thanks the IVA thingo explains the blank space on chassis plate, and hopefully if we go with the 860, and fingers crossed thats enough to get it past the transport egg heads - remember the old saying "jobsworth" I think its part of the interview process for their personnel :)
aerobod - near CYYC
860kg is likely fairly accurate. Here is the table of Kerb Weights from a c2013 handbook:

aerobod - near CYYC
I just noticed there Tim the common thread, the maximum payload as quoted by Caterham is always 300kg. You could just weigh your car with a close to empty fuel tank for the TARE weight and add 300kg for the GVM.

Curly
HiMy 2003 SV K series, half tank of fuel was 565Kg when I did the iVA process in 2021 - used the local recysling cemtre to get it weighed enroute for the Blue slip - biggest issues I had was getting the 100mm ground clearance and the fact there isn't an engine number - Transport NSW gave me one to have stamped on.Good luckMartin
