Neil220
Does a 1996 1.6 K series have a relay for the fuel pump? There is a pin out on the ECU but my handbook doesn't show a relay fitted. My car won't start as the fuel pump isn't working but the pump itself is okay(I've checked the fuse and bypassed the inertia switch)
JP
The relay is in the MFRU, I believe, under the ECU.

Neil220
Many thanks I'll look,Do you mean under the dash passenger side?I have 4 relays there, horn, hazard, flasher & lightsWhat's a MFRU?Or do you in the engine bay, physically under the ECU?I unbolt the ECU and there it is.Excuse my ignorance on this! SM25T
Tiny little relays in a black plastic box. For my starter relay, I removed the wires to the MFRU and fitted a chunky 12V relay outside the unit.
Neil220
ThanksIs it in the passenger footwell under the fusebox or in the engine bay under the ECU?Not home can't look!
Member Jonathan Kay Posted March 1, 2023 Member Share Posted March 1, 2023 "My car won't start as the fuel pump isn't working but the pump itself is okay"The pump runs when its given its own test feed and earth?Any recent work on the car?Can you hear any clicks when you turn the ignition ON?Then I'd test whether it's the feed or earth that has a problem. Disconnect the pump from its connectors. Ignition ON. With a multimeter test in the car side of the connector whether you have 12 V on the appropriate pin and a good earth on the other. Please let me know if you'd like any wiring diagrams.Jonathan
SM25T
It's in the engine bay with the ECU.
Area Representative Geoff Brown Posted March 1, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted March 1, 2023 Inertia switch on engine bulkhead faulty or accidentally activated? Press top then see if pump works. Ignore miss read post as you have by passed inertia switch.
Neil220
Thanks I've done just thatDisconnected the connector at the rear.Fed pump 12V, it worksIgnition on no 12V at the connector.Trying to establish why not.If you have an engine loom diagram for a Mems 1.9 that would be great please1996 1.6 Supersport
