Vinman1
Looking for any and all bits to put a 8' or 9" drum brake set up on an English Ford rear. Need everything including anchor plates. Any info on possible interchange other model sources greatly appreciated.
Wrightpayne
Don't you fancy a disc conversion kit?
Vinman1
Did a disc conversion kit w/ Seira typ calipers. Had to use spacers to clear 13" rims. That plus the rotors made the rear 35mm wider, and caused clearance issue with the rear wings. The vintage race folks would require the drum set up, so I figure get two birds with one stone. OldAndrewE
The sources of parts are various RWD Escort models, depending on whether you want 8" or 9". Some Mk 1 Escort bits may be difficult to find (I really struggled to find handbrake operating levers (the ones sticking out the back of the drums) but found some in the end). The Ford owners club forum is quite useful and is free to join and post. Vinman1
Yes, the handbrake levers, as well as the anchor plates are rare these days. Motomobile does not have a source for the levers either. I have pieced together a 9" system from various Capri's. I had to buy the whole rear from a car to get the brake & E-brake hardware. Using the 1.75' shoes and front brakes are GT-6, so hopefully, can bias to work well. Will check suggested club too, thx!Vin
TANGO7
Powertrack (01344886522) are a good source of brake and clutch parts for "vintage/classic" vehicles
Vinman1
Thx, will check with them for future ref. The Capri 9" set up is coming together nicely. Reduced the track with significantly. I alo moved the Radius arm, shock mount weld brackets on the axle to the 12 O'clock position (where at 10). This moved the rear forward and brought the wheels closer to center relative to the wings. I believe the axle was previously set up for a four link, 5 link if you count the Panhard bar. V
