Wrightpayne
JP,The dedion tubes from that era are known to fail around the underslung shock mounting - it basically peels out of the tube. On my '98 car I changed it for a later 'upgraded' tube that uses a thicker wall tubing and bracing around the shock mount. It also has predrilled holes for properly attaching the brake pipe with p clips. There is a very old post detailing several tube failures.Another thing not mentioned is that the flexi pipe conversion is not a fit and forget solution. The flexi lines need to be changed periodically incl the front ones.
JP
Thanks #26. I think I recall the DD failure chat from a while ago. I think that failure also happened to a mate who used to have an early 90's Swindon HPC.I suspect changing the flexi lines once the car is put back together will be a fuel tank out job if the p clips are rivetted to the DD tube? aerobod - near CYYC
Yes, that is the case Paul, that's all I did when drilling out the P-clip rivets when swapping to the flex lines.
