ChrisH
It appears that my engine is sinking downwards. Symptoms include alternator hitting steering column and bonnet struggling to clear the carbs. All very odd because the car has only recently been refiited by a very well known specialist. If it is not the mounts then could the chassis be buckling. Anybody got any thoughts or experienced similar problems? OIL 7540 2L ZETEC (bathroom suite in - no tiles yet)
Tight fart
I have had two problems like this over the years. The first was the rubber engine mount collapsing, and the second was the bolts that hold the mount to the block loosening. Hope that helps
AMMO
I fitted Raceline engine mounts and new engine mount rubbers when I fitted my Zetec. After a while everything started to sag. The exhaust headers that were built in situ hit the chassis and the K&N filters touched the bonnet. I made some 5 mm spacers to put under the engine mounts to lift evrything up again. Problem solved. AMMO
I should add it was the rubber that compressed not the mounts bending. AMMO

I.Mupferit
Try using washers under the bracket to lift it above the mounts if you can't get any spacers. Brent 7 not now in so many bits 😬
AMMO
No leftovers, sorry. With the Raceline engine mounts there was not enough engaged thread into the engine mount to put washers between the rubber and mount. This may work with the Whiting ones, I don't know for sure. I measured how much clearance I had between the timing cover and nose cone and made spacers to go in between the engine mount and chassis. These wer just 5 mm ali plates, 25 mm wide with two holes for the bolts to go through. The existing 5/16" bolts were long enough and did not require changing. Hope this helps.
