Recommended Posts

When the summer arrives (hopefully) I will be doing a few track days. What is the best way of putting car on a diet.

'96 2.0 vx (dont say fitting a k-series!)

I am thinking of removing:

Heater

Windscreen

Spare wheel and carrier

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance James

Have you seen me? What a small world it is!

The other day I had my paper underpants on. Then it started to rain. They went soggy and fell off which left me naked!

I continued in the name of science but after they released me I decided that there was no marked improvement.

Any other ideas?

Removing things is the cheapest option. When you run out of things to take off, start replavcing things with lighter items.

Wheels, pick the lightest items, mine are 3.5 kg each.

Lightest tires. Not sure which are best.

Light weight disks for the brakes. Some are Ceramic metal matrix. Not sure who makes them, but they reduce the unsprung weight, the same as the wheels and tires, and will therefore enhance handling.

Lighter brake callipers as well. THey have been recenly been weighed in a previous thread.

As Dr Porsche says "if you wish to add speed, add lightness"

Regards Stuart
