Area Representative Nick Bassett Posted August 10, 2022 Area Representative Share Posted August 10, 2022 5W50 oil - not sure where you've seen 0w40 as 5W50 is recommended by almost everyone on here for the K series...

revilla
MG Rover's specifications for K Series engined cars were usually something like this (from the Rover 25 / MG ZR Owner's Manual):Oil specificationPetrol engines: Use any brand of 10W/40 engine oil meeting the specification: ACEA A2.NOTE: With the exception of 1.8 - 160 models, ACEA A1 oils can also be used - the A1 specification may improve fuel economy. But this was largely based on the commonly available mineral or part synthetic oils of the day and not aimed at track use. Most people these days use 5W50 in Caterham K Series engines as other people have started above. For the VVC models (the 1.8 - 160 referred to above) you should still stick to a good 10W40 semi-synthetic oil.
