Phil
Having trouble with my near side rear fog light, it seams to have 10.5volt to it but will not light the bulb, where is the earth for this and is this the problem, any ideas? Thanks for any help given. 1700SS DD 1990. PHIL
Chris W
Phil There should be a red/orange wire bringing power to the bulb and a black wire connected to earth from the bulb. If you're getting volts at the bulb, then either: (i) the bulb is dead! if you have an ohmeter, check for continuity on the bulb itself. Try substituting a different bulb - the reversing light bulb for example. Try substituting the fog light bulb in the reversing light holder - this will tell you immediately whether the bulb is OK or not. (ii) the bulb is OK but has corroded contacts underneath - try scratching them with a small screwdriver etc..... and the bulb holder's contacts too. (iii) the earth from the bulb holder is defective - connect a temporary wire from the earth side of the bulb holder to the chassis. If the bulb lights, then this is the problem. rgds Chris 1.8K SV 140hp see it here

Chris W
That's true, but he's getting volts on the live (switched) side so he can't have missed that. Chris 1.8K SV 140hp see it here
