AG2728
To those in the know....I've never been here before and and I think I have now completed the somewhat convoluted entry procedure for the event however I still have a few queries (dumb questions) left.1. Can I arrive on Friday and stay overnight? And at what time? There is no mention of circuit opening hours in the final instructions.2. Do I have to organise and pay to camp in my van? It says camping can be booked and paid on the website but I can't find it anywhere.3. Once in the paddock, do I leave my trailer hitched or do I have to park it separately like at Goodwood?4. Would I use the main entrance on Friday evening, or will the competitors entrance be open??ThanksAndy
Area Representative Richard Price Posted July 18, 2022 Area Representative Share Posted July 18, 2022 Andy,Yes, its normal for folks to arrive on Friday for a Saturday meeting and camp overnight.'can't help about paying for parking. Page 2 of the finals:-TIMETABLE & RUNNING ORDERFriday 22nd July1300 – Orchard and Paddock opens1600 -Clubhouse open for drinks1800-2000- Clubhouse open for food Saturday23rd July0700 – Paddock opens0745 – Scrutineering commences in running order0820 – Engines start 0830 – FIRST PRACTICE RUNS – order as per above SECOND PRACTICE RUN Lunch FIRST TIMED RUNS SECOND TIMED RUNS1700(est) – Hill closes. Paddock & Orchard close – all vehicles removed from the Paddock 1730(est) – Clubhouse closes In the paddock, during a meeting, you're only allowed the competition car. The tow car and trailer needs to be parked in the orchard (on the opposite side of the track to the paddock). We normally bring the tow car and trailer into the paddock, unload all we're likely to need into the paddock space, then take the tow car and trailer across to the orchard (hoping to park up reasonably close to the foot bridge to get back to the paddock).Yes, before and after the meeting the main entrance is used to access the paddock, and leaving to get to the orchard via the main entrance again. However, to get the competition car back to the trailer before the end of the meeting, you normally need to drive out of the side entrance of the paddock and on the public road to get to the main entrance to get to the orchard.I've never stayed right to the end of a meeting, but I understand it gets VERY congested with folks trying to get trailers in and out of the paddock!!We normally pack as much of the heavier stuff into the seven, and make a couple of trips across the foot bridge with light and bulky stuff like suits, boots, and helmets etc. (and, running, slicks, another trip with a sack truck with another set of wheels and tyres......) Area Representative Richard Price Posted July 18, 2022 Area Representative Share Posted July 18, 2022 I normally aim to arrive at no later than seven on the Saturday morning to set up ('not had a problem getting into the paddock before seven). By the time we're trying to get out of the paddock and across to the orchard to leave the trailer, the paddock to orchard route is already getting busy!). AG2728
So do competitors need to pay for sleeping in our camper vans?It says price per pitch but I don't need an extra pitch because my van and trailer will be there all night, whether I'm sleeping in it or not.
