GaryK
AndyWhen I had my MOT at the beginning of April my tester just asked me if it was working. I told him I had adjusted as per the manual and he was happy with that. He does deal with a lot of classics so I guess he understands the foibles of an older type of car.Gary
Toby S
I must admit the handbrake on mine is only used twice yearly, firstly the weekend before the MOT to check it works and holds and then then at the MOT itself - again under the dash and when I'm strapped in I can't reach it !! - I tend to just leave it in gear if on a slope

Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted June 1, 2022 Leadership Team Share Posted June 1, 2022 On my previous car the under dash handbrake was dire. I removed it and did some careful fettling to ensure the pivot holes on each side lined up properly and the ratchet mechanism worked correctly. Once done it functioned perfectly and was very light to use. Remember that it started life as a straight handbrake which is bent for the under dash install, it's the bending that introduces most of the problems. ECR
It can be used as a brake then? I thought it was for hanging carrier bags on from the Chinese takeaway ......
