Scotland North AR
Hi, I've just renewed my fuel tank after the garage discovered during service a pinhole in the bottom by the weld where the baffle runs front to back half way across the width of the tank. It weeps rather than leaks, if you wipe off the dampness, it comes back a minute or two later. Not enough to wet the garage floor or result in 6 MPG.The new one cost me £376 + carriage.Any sensible offers from anyone?
timb2117
I'm sure I would not pass the Health and Safety test but.... I fixed one of these in situ, superglue dabbed on to stop it temporarily, then plastic metal kneaded together and dumped on top. Quick sand and spray with paint and - that was a year ago, not a drop since.
Mark Widdup2
If anyone is looking to repair this you can use something like the POR15 tank repair kit which is about 65 from Frost Restorations we use it a lot in the classic car world on old Porsche short wheelbase tanks which regularly take a hit from the road. It effectively puts a new membrane in the tank.
