Craig being me of course - Mav: where are your manners?

Snitcher is no leader. Snitcher is a mouse. If he were a Star Wars character he would be Jabba the Hutt (all those pork pies)

Ooh. That reminds me. Need to go and check the trap. Hang on a sec, chaps...

Ah yes, but technically speaking we're talking about force not mass, so it should be:

lbf ft

ft lbf

ft.lbf

lbf.ft

I seem to remember reading somewhere that using lb for lbf was so common that it was officially recognised as the same thing, but that seems terribly untidy to me. It's like saying 'PIN Number' or 'My weight is 75kg' or 'My English is incorrectable' or not bothering to use the subjunctive correctly or or or

Why is everyone staring at me like I'm mad?

Come back! What did I say

say

ay

I've never trusted torque settings since, as a yung'un, I couldnt afford a torque wrench, so to get the required 40 ftlb (or whatever) I worked out my weight (significantly less back then) over the length of the 1/2" drive 'T' bar needed, then stood on it.

My moped fell over and landed on my foot ☹️

  • 1 year later...

But Mr Jacksons tale of torque was far funnier than he reported.

It was actually the oil filter housing on his FZR1000 that he was tightening.

He smashed two of them before he recalculated his calculations. It was on his third attempt that the bike fell over onto his moped and broke everything in his mums garage. 😳

its only a game.........
