Alternator Duff

Alternator on my 2002 K series road sport is not charging at a level to make the red light go out. Checked with meter, not reaching 11 volts and does not alter with higher revs. Does anyone know the part number for ,I suppose the standard rover replacement part. Or the rover model it was fitted to. I see that there were various output amps and threads on here about "brackets" and altrnators not fitting. Help required chaps.

Why not remove it and take it to your local car electrical centre and get them to overhaul it. At least you know it will fit. Most places do a 1-2 day service.

What Ian says: they're surprisingly repairable and that way both the brackets and wiring will fit.

First I'd try and identify the family. Can you see any markings on it and what's the terminal layout?

It does sound as if it's duff. But check the connectors and the wiring, including the engine block earth, before anything expensive.

Please let me know if you'd like a wiring diagram.

Thanks for that gents. Found a local repair auto sparks. Have to wait till monday to sort. Typical , blat weather this weekend. I'll post results when sorted.
