Beagler
Anyone had this and whats the best fix. Is it easy to get at screen stantion to body nuts and once loosened is it a case of pulling the rubber tight.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted March 24, 2022 Member Share Posted March 24, 2022 It's common, it's usually possible to do better, and the nuts are accessible.Recent discussion with hints and tips.Jonathan

Member Jonathan Kay Posted March 24, 2022 Member Share Posted March 24, 2022 On my Seven the nuts are exposed. Are yours covered by a trim panel?Jonathan
Beagler
Got the cover off and have undone the nuts but pulling down on the rubber doesnt help as it seems to be deformed. The only option is double sided tape or replace the rubber.
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted March 24, 2022 Area Representative Share Posted March 24, 2022 Looks like you need to pull the rubber not only down but towards the bank of the car. If the end protrudes into a visible area trim it off. That should improve things. A little clear silicon may also help to secure it. Good luck. SM25T
Don't think I would use any tape or silicone. New rubber fitted the right way up (!)... and tensioned by pulling downwards and rearwards before you tighten the stanchion bolts.
Beagler
This looks better. Just need to trim it.
aerobod - near CYYC
If you tuck it behind the front part of the stanchion triangle, just behind the mounting bolt, it shouldn't need trimming and will hold in place better and also lead to less water going under the front edge of the door. Beagler
Needed to pull on that as I tightened the nuts so had to cut the excess. Its still sealed quite lowdown so shouldn't come into the car. I think the only way there is a risk of water ingress is if it goes out in the rain....... perish the thought. Wrightpayne
Well done that looks neat again. when my kit was delivered, with screen fitted, it had two long tails of rubber to retension once it had settled, then trimmed off.
