Cat2017
Hi allPutting fresh oil in the Ital diff/axle - chassis plate says to use Spirex HD95/140 oil but I'm struggling to find this. I'd appreciate some advice on a suitable alternative. Thanks Neal
Tazio
I use 80W 90 GL5 oil from Road and Race Transmission in mine, and just over fill it by putting additional oil in the breather.Alan
Ivaan
Do you have a LSD?
rkeywood
The Shell Spirax on the chassis plate is the brand Caterham sold at the time but the period Manual just says use EP90. If it's a standard diff then pretty much any decent mineral EP90 like Castrol Classic and Fuchs Titan (Silkolene) 90 LS will be fine. Worth calling Opie Oils to see what they suggest and use the club discount. I've run an ATB for 30 odd years and used a variety of hypoid 90 or 75W90 without any noticeable difference. Currently use Fuchs Titan SYN5 75W90 as recommended by Quaife
Tazio
Yes I have a quaife atb, the only other thing I had done was to get the bearings on the half shafts shimmed correctly.
7 wonders of the world
The Quaiffe ATB does not require a specific LSD oil, since it's not an LSD - these LS oils are designed for plate LSD'sHas no one re engineering the Ital axle casing to prevent surge rather than simply overfilling by adding another litre of oil
rkeywood
I don't think anyone has suggested the ATB needs a specific LSD oil - the oils suggested are all gear oils and the Fuchs products are those recommended by QuaifeR
Cat2017
Many thanks for all your responses - much appreciated. It's a stock ital diff - gone for the Castrol Classic
