Roger Ford
Anyone know the Ford part number for the nearside (reverse-thread) rear driveshaft nut? Also if I order one from my local Ford dealer am I likely to get 41mm or 42mm? If it's 42mm, I'll need a new socket.

Area Representative Paul Richards Posted February 19, 2022 Area Representative Share Posted February 19, 2022 Just ring Redline. He'll supply a 41mm nut.
Roger Ford
For £17 (Caterham price) or £3.20 (Ford price)?
GulfSeven
The latest cars come with 42mm. Is the thread the same on both then?

Roger Ford
Went to my local Ford dealer, and the left hand nut is now £18 - so even more than Caterham. The parts guy did say Ford have bumped up the prices on lots of their older parts.Have asked Chris@Redline to supply one. Waiting to hear whether it's 41 or 42mm or whether he can supply either. ChrisC
The Caterham supplied nuts no longer come in a Ford parts bag, so I assume they are no longer using Ford to supply. This is different to my September 2019 delivery kit, which was supplied with nuts from a Ford bag. You can find cheaper supplies, but I was told by a Caterham tech of an instance where a hub nut failed before reaching the specified torque. If that was to happen it would probably damage a wheel and I might get smacked in the face with a breaker bar, so given that I am happy to consider the extra price of the Ford part.
