SamC
I wired the red wire to the side light, and the main plug to the standard headlight. That turns the halo on when you turn the sidelight on, then keeps the halo on when dipped and main beam are engaged. From memory, keeping the two connected as shown in the image on the left means you get nothing on sidelight, and halo on for dipped and main. TC
Hello all, I'm thinking of upgrading my headlights to led and have read on here that Andy Hobbs can supply units at a sensible price. Can anyone give me Andy's contact details please. Thanks Tony C.

TC
Thanks Bluenose & Dan. I've seen these on line, and think it may be the way to go.
PlastererPete
Are these the same as the cafe racer ones? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304860958864?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=nbUfGDNkSn2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=m7NV-5oRR3q&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Dan R
Looking at them i think it's fair to say that they look 'Similar' to the cafe racer ones, however there is obviously a big price difference. By the same token the cafe racer ones look 'Similar' to the CC ones, again with a considerable price difference! Im certainly no expert, but by my logic i would assume that the quality is broadly dependent on price purely due to the economics of it all. I couldn't justify the price for the CC ones for the amount of time i would rely on them driving in the dark, but by the same token i didn't want to fit something that was of very poor quality. For me the cafe racer ones seemed like a good compromise that would fit my needs. I think it would be safe to assume that the ebay ones and the cafe racer ones weren't the same item, and by the logic above, that the cafe racer ones aren't the same spec as the CC ones. There are certainly lots of choices out there and no real way of telling how good or bad something is until you've bought it and tried it, which is what led me to go on recommendation for mine.
PlastererPete
Totally agree Dan. I’ve been looking at changing my headlights for something a little more modern and have read this thread in its entirety. I found those after a quick google search so thought I would ask considering they look really close to the cafe racer ones. I’ll put in a silly low offer and see if they accept. Even if they are complete rubbish at least I can warn other members off them. Edited October 28, 2023 by PlastererPete
Area Representative bluenose Posted October 28, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted October 28, 2023 They do look like the same ones. If so then they are a bargain. 4 hours ago, PlastererPete said: Are these the same as the cafe racer ones? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304860958864?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=nbUfGDNkSn2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=m7NV-5oRR3q&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
PlastererPete
Well the cheap ebay ones have arrived. They are pretty good to be honest. From closer inspection of the leds and layout of the lense they are almost identical to the caferacer pictures on there site. The seller accepted an offer of £35 for the pair aswell.
Jonathan Kay
It would be great if you could do some before and after photos showing the illumination down the road. Possibly easiest when you’ve changed one side. And best with fixed exposure. Jonathan
Dan R
They do look very similar indeed. It will be interesting to see how well they work..... fingers crossed as that's a bargain!

Hooley
Costs for me were £130 for the bowls and holders from car builder solutions and £32 for the lights from EBay Huge improvement on light output and quite focussed, not too much scatter. Area Representative bluenose Posted November 2, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted November 2, 2023 I’d wager the ones off Ebay are the same as the Cafe Racer ones. Think some people are making good money from selling these LED headlights well over what they are being sourced for. As for the Caterham ones, ludicrously over priced. Shame. Picture shows Cafe Racer ones.
ducatidentist
I've bought the eBay ones too! But am a complete newbie with spanner work. Are the connections behind the nose cone?
GaryK
I have the larger 7 inch bowls and replaced my sidelight bulb with a much brighter LED. It does seem to help me be seen as I run with the sidelights on all the time.

Just attaching a bullet connector (which the ebay ones have) and away we go.
