Ralph45
Help required please,Not sure Econoseal is the correct name for them but I wish to remove the connectors on the headlight wiring without damaging them so I can reposition my headlights on some older style up and back brackets.First question has anyone else done this removal moving the lighting position either way?Secondly what tool or improvisation was used to do it and if a specific tool were used where can I get one? Thanks in advance once againRalph
revilla
You need to click out the yellow bit in the centre of the connector. They just click into place. After that, you can just use a pin or a needle to lift the little plastic latch that holds each pin (from the front of the connector) and pull the terminal out (from the back). Ralph45
Thank you both,Jonathan, I'm hoping to simply disconnect and then reconnect the fittings when I've re-threaded them in to the replacement brackets.I expect the wires are going to be long enough but I know these thing rarely go this easily! If you know differently please advise.Ralph
Ralph45
Jonathan thanks for the link.I've just had a good look and I'm sure I've got some jeweller's screwdrivers and other tools I can use to ease the retaining barbs inside the connector blocks and with a little luck get the job done.Ian, (Wrightpayne) very kindly gave me some longer wishbone bolts needed to accommodate the headlight bracket steady bars.I'm collecting the brackets from the powder coaters tomorrow am, so unless grandparent duties interfere I should be able to get the job underway soon.Ralph
DennisA
A small screwdriver will do it but it is tricky/fiddly to do it without damage. One of those things that become easier once you have done the first one. Might be worth getting some spare silicon seals as its easy to damage them (pence on ebay). There are a few videos on utube that show you in detail how to do it, I found these invaluable. Just google econoseal pin removal.

Nigel B
I find a cocktail stick is quite an effective tool for releasing the pins. But it's a fiddly job!
Wrightpayne
When I swapped mine over I found the sleeving (for the wires going down the inside of headlight bracket) had gone quite hard and uncooperative when fitting into the replacement brackets.I have some new sleeving in stock (and your address) if you need any? :-) Ian
Ralph45
Thanks Ian,I'll have a look when I do it (didn't get time today) and if they are uncooperative I may well take you up on your offer.Ralph
