Area Representative Nick Bassett Posted November 8, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted November 8, 2021 If I were to replace the clutch on my SLR (K series c. 200bhp) what clutch manufacturer would people recommend? I've heard certain brands have a habit of cracking in higher power K series? Also, with engine out, what else would you look at replacing - CRB I guess... anything else? Thanks! CycleSi
Go for a Helix.Don't go with AP Racing.Yes; replace the CRB at the same time for sure.

Graham King
Jack, I can't speak specifically about the Helix as I have no experience, but I can say that in my old 1800K SL (~210bhp) I stripped a new AP clutch plate on a trackday, the friction plate simply came away. I suspect it was a slight mistimed gear change that caused but I'd replaced the clutch (as the engine was out) and had to do it again. Graham. CycleSi
Many people have found the quality of AP clutches has deteriorated over the past few years whereas I have yet to hear anything bad about Helix.
jackb_ms
I was asking because i fitted an AP clutch about 10 years ago.The only issue i have is that is was like an on-off switch.Jack
