C20XE Dry Sump - Oil level check?

Hi!

when is best to check the level in the reservoir and where should it be at that stage?

Last oil change resulted in the overflow tank overflowing and making a right mess...

Are you using the Pace style cylindrical tank..?

If so the oil should be 10-20mm below the top baffle with the engine running and the oil up to full temp.

bell housing tank, on mine I have the car running, peer into the chamber and see where the level is, top up a little at a time if needs be and watch the overflow tank. But I'll check mine again today and post back

If I understand correctly, with motor hot and running, have the oil level "just under" the overflow outlet?

thats about the size of it by what I can gather, any excess is thrown into the catch bottle

I never discovered a better way. It's a lot easier with the pace external tank.
