SM25T
I used a bead of black silicone sealant each side of the light.
David Brown
Cable tie - you'll probably have to use them to hold the cable anyway.
timb2117
Sikaflex to anything, hands, feet, boeing 747 - it wont budge :)
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted September 26, 2021 Leadership Team Share Posted September 26, 2021 The cable can be hidden with a strip of helicopter tape, it doesn't go gooey over time like other tapes.Stu.
K7 VCT
Sikaflex sounds the way to go..... Can you remove it if needed to?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted September 26, 2021 Member Share Posted September 26, 2021 "Sikaflex sounds the way to go..... Can you remove it if needed to?"NB there are lots of products labelled Sikaflex!I don't know of any chemicals that help much. If you're lucky you can peel from an edge. And if you aren't you can abrade or scrape.Which brings me to the question: What's the best way to prepare the two surfaces before sticking them together?ThanksJonathan
ScottR400D
Sounds too permanent to me. I think I'd favour a good quality doubled sided with cable ties as back up, even if just on the cable.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted September 26, 2021 Leadership Team Share Posted September 26, 2021 But this was the OP request ..."Must be Black, mastic or similar"My high level brake light is attached to the rollbar with number plate sticky tabs, you can buy a roll of the stuff on ebay, and the cable secured with helicopter tape. Secure fix and easily removed if needed with no residue, plus I really dislike cable ties and p-clips on the outside of the car unless absolutely necessary!Stu. K7 VCT
Number plate tape is a good call. My front plate is stuck fast with the stuff. Might go with 3m reflective tape to hide the cable, does 2 jobs then

Area Representative Geoff Brown Posted September 28, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted September 28, 2021 I used the thin spongy double sided adhesive tape used for double glazing pvcu trim. Then infilled with a seam of black silicone to hide it & waterproof.
rayjackson1950
I used thin black cable ties for mine. Easy to change remove later, if necessary.
ScottR400D
I quite like Geoff's idea of tape plus a regular silicone to seal it. At least you've got a chance of removing it without damaging the bar.
