Beagler
Where do you mount yours and how. Where do you take its power from?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted September 2, 2021 Member Share Posted September 2, 2021 There's a lot on both of these in the archives. I'll dig some out later.Do you already have an accessory socket? For this purpose I'd recommend a *single unit with a traditional cigar lighter socket and one or two USB charging sockets, and make sure that they supply 2.1 A charging current and not anything rated lower.Jonathan* And a digital voltmeter if you'd like one. Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted September 2, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted September 2, 2021 Similarly, I have in-ear headphones & just listen.Years ago when I had a TomTom 3, I had a very compact GPS unit that fitted in front of the gearstick, velcoed to the tunnel top. John Vine
I have a Garmin DriveSmart 55, and use a screen suction mount. The power supply is via a 12v cig lighter socket wired through an inline fuse direct to the battery. The socket is cable-tied under the steering column. I use the same socket for my Accumate charger.Which satnav are you getting?JV

John Vine
If your Tom Tom is like this, it seems to have a suction mount very similar to the Garmin, but with a screw action rather than a lever:JV
Member Jonathan Kay Posted September 2, 2021 Member Share Posted September 2, 2021 These two threads give a fair range of possible positions with photos and sources for mounts:https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/mobile-phone-mounting https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/phone-mountJonathan
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted September 2, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted September 2, 2021 Sucker to windscreen. Power from cig lighter type socket on dash wired direct to battery via fuse and earthed to connection near wiper motor so can be used for optimate battery conditioner.
