Scotland North AR
Hi, just learned the other day about the power socket spade connectors on the back of the harness near the light connections. The black is earth and has continuity with earth. The green and purple appears dead. The 10 amp fuse is ok. Any suggestions where else to look?I was going to connect the intercom to it rather than keep the wire that runs from the cigarette lighter at the front.Thanks. Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 19, 2021 Member Share Posted August 19, 2021 Green/Purple sounds like the brake lights. That could be the installed wiring for a high-level brake light rather than a power socket.JonathanPS: If you use it to power the intercom you could explain why you're braking... :-)
Scotland North AR
Thanks for that Jonathan. I did have the "T" piece harness in for the high level brake light but you are right, power does indeed come on to the connectors I'm talking about when the brake pedal is pressed. There is a dotted line on the wiring diagram for the power socket so not sure whether this means that bit of the harness may or may not be fitted. Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 19, 2021 Member Share Posted August 19, 2021 I don't know what determined which Sevens were wired for a rear accessory supply. Some have been found by scrabbling around...Jonathan
TomB
Wish I had one on mine, it would make efforts to install the intercom etc much easier!
ian.pursglove
I have one and struggled for ages during the build to figure out why it was there - after all why would you leave a spare part of the loom? mutter, mutter, sodding caterham being difficult, mutter mutter
Scotland North AR
Definitely not there on this one, have hunted high and low including removing boot floor.
oldboarder
On my 2017 310sv there was a power feed tied into the loom on the chassis accessible from the rear offside wheel arch. I fed that up into the boot and use it to charge my battery.
Scotland North AR
In breaking news, just remembered taking a few photos when I took the tunnel cover off the other week. Checked the photos, hey presto the t shaped connector is tywrapped to the chassis just behind the gearstick. Removed cover just now.Checked the voltage, live all the I.e. not switched.I'll post a photo later on.

krisfl
These extra connections in the O/S wheel arch mentioned above, they're not the Sub loom connections for a high level brake light are they? Or is there another set in there somewhere?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 24, 2022 Member Share Posted June 24, 2022 Some have one, some have the other! But at least the wiring colours are different...Jonathan
MattB
I have just found this connector cable tied to the chassis on the bulkhead behind the driver's seat.I can't find a connector with purple/black and black wires on the wiring diagram. The fitted grommet would indicate that it should have gone through either the bulkhead or the floor.Does anyone know what this is meant to supply?MattB
Member Jonathan Kay Posted July 2, 2023 Member Share Posted July 2, 2023 Is it Green/Purple? (I'm on a 'phone.)That's for an additional brake light Jonathan
MattB
JonathanThe rear brake light connectors (one for a green/purple wire, one for a black wire - two separate white connectors) are tied up to the side of the fuel tank, so this is definitely not a brake light connector. The feed wire is black/purple (only just noticed that the purple is the tracer).MattB

Member Jonathan Kay Posted July 2, 2023 Member Share Posted July 2, 2023 ThanksIn addition to additional brake lights and typical accessory power supplies other things that might be wired through the boot include sound systems and sidelight-switched feeds for instrument illumination.Jonathan
