David_Stamp
Does anyone have a reference list of all standard fit light bulbs for Sevens?I am thinking of fitting LED lamps to my reversing and rear fog lights, plus the front indicators (main + cycle wing repeaters), and the rear number plate lamp.I plan to get the colour LEDs from Classic Car LEDs, but I need to know the actual bulb reference numbers currently fitted to my 2012 Roadsport SV first.Apart from taking each cover off one-by-one, does anyone have a reference sheet on bulb types/numbers used? Jonathan Kay
I don't have one, and I don't think that I've ever seen one. Some in this thread. You could ask Chris at Redline. And try the Caterham Parts database. Please could you add it as a Guide once you've got it all together.ThanksJonathan
Tazio
When I had dealings with Classic Car Leds, I emailed him, told him what i wanted to do, and he gave me his appropriate ref numbers, and options for brighter than standard bulbs too. He was very quick to respond to any queries I had .Alan
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted August 14, 2021 Leadership Team Share Posted August 14, 2021 Be careful fitting LED "bulbs" in the standard rear lights, some are so dim IMHO they're downright dangerous. This was very noticeable on a recent blat with cars fitted with standard bulbs being much more visible than some fitted with LED bulbs. Personally I'd fit either the new Caterham or the JAL full LED units.Front lights don't suffer the same, Gemzoe Motorsport H4 replacements are excellent and most BA9S LED sidelight bulbs work very well, much brighter than the original filament bulbs. Unfortunately though it's the fronts that may now have issues at MOT time.Stu.
7 wonders of the world
Changing the bulbs or lens will mean you lights no longer meet the correct approvals and could be a loop hole for insurance companies to wriggle through should be rear ended...new bulbs lens or indeed the JAL versions are not 'E' markedThe new Caterham verions and options from SVC or Wipac for members wanting the original look are though
David_Stamp
Thanks - I am aware that changing to certain types of LED bulb may invalidate the prior E marking. As far as I know though all the JAL headlamp LED versions are E marked.
GulfSeven
The JAL headlight inners are identical to the OEM Caterham ones, and are indeed E-marked.
