Matt the Womble
My new arrival has been leaving a couple or drips on the garage floor, having had a good route around I found the bottom of the pipes from the coolant tank where damp , I've nipped the jubilee clamps up, but welcome any other thoughts, also, how on earth do you top,the coolant tank up ! SM25T
Take the nose off ! And do it soon
SM25T
You should check all hose clamps every month. Including the ones you can't get at, like the ones hidden around the thermostat.

Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 1, 2021 Member Share Posted August 1, 2021 "... how on earth do you top,the coolant tank up !"What model is it?The lid should unscrew on the tank. You can top it up at the radiator or the tank. But if it's a K there are some peculiar rituals involved.Jonathan
Matt the Womble
It's a 2007 k series , do I need to roll my trouser leg up to fill it up or is it simpler !?!
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 1, 2021 Member Share Posted August 1, 2021 The archives are full of hints, but they aren't completely consistent. Here's a brief summary of one method for filling with coolant.Having aligned the major axis of the Seven with the pole star...Jack the nose up as high as possible. If you have a heater then make sure that the circuit is open. Fill the radiator to the top and then the expansion tank to the mark. Some Sevens need a bleed tee adding at the highest point of the circuit. Then lower the car and check the level. Then start the engine and massage the big coolant hoses. On mine this removes any trapped air. Then check that the hoses go hot appropriately. At this point I also check that the fan comes on at the right temperature. But on some Sevens this isn't enough, and the next step is to drill a small hole in the thermostat. Under a full moon.Jonathan

SM25T
Two or four Dzus fasteners. Takes all of 20 seconds.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 1, 2021 Member Share Posted August 1, 2021 There are four (or two) Dzus fasteners. Release them all and lift it off. SNAP!Jonathan
SM25T
Just remove nose, unscrew cap and pour in coolant to max line. No magic involved
Tom_Arundel
I don`t know about Ks but on sigmas you can just get your hand under the nose and screw the cap off and then fill up with a short length of hose and a funnel
timb2117
I'm with SM25 or if you don't want to take nose off tape some hose to a funnel, tape the funnel to a stick, to hold it above engine, then pop the hose end into the expansion tank fill to required level. Roadsport06
It would be worthwhile giving that area a clean too to remove any coolant stains as it will give you a starting point if you have a coolant loss in the future.
