W2TKY
Sorry if this has been asked before, but do 7s come with different steering rack options? My previous 7, the rack and steering lock available felt similar to a normal car, my latest 7, a 2007 R400 Superlight, the lock that the car has always seems to catch me out, specially when getting into and out of a of car parking spaces. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted April 4, 2021 Leadership Team Share Posted April 4, 2021 Mark, as far as the "speed" of the rack goes there were originally 3: standard, +8% and +22%. In recent years the standard was dropped in favour of the 8% becoming the "standard" rack.A 22% rack is around 1.75 turns lock to lock if that helps.Stu. Tony Whitley
Are you sure about that [edit: Geoff]? AFAIK all cars have the 8% rack as standard.Data point that doesn't apply in this case: cars with clams have a larger turning circle, the stops on the rack are adjusted so the tyres don't touch the wings

robert green
Not sure that's right. I think clam cars have a tighter turning circle than cycle wings. Their racks have a stop on them to limit travel before the cycle wings foul the body....or they did.... edited to say this is a reply to Tony! Tony Whitley
Ah, I remember that there was a difference. I wonder if it's still so?
