BrettJ
Does anyone know if it's a requirement for the mats to be secured with the press studs for the IVA test?
PeterM
I think the answer to that is yes as unsecured floor mats able to ride up under the pedals would be dangerous.
ChrisC
Brett where is it booked in? If it's Gillingham I would say no, but I suspect other locations is a maybe. Might be worth downloading and reading the IVA testers manual from M1 class.
Area Representative Geoff Brown Posted March 20, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted March 20, 2021 Could be an IVA issue but the build manual does instruct to fit poppers to floor & mats. Depends if the IKEA manual has that detail as earlier manuals do.
K7 VCT
Surely just fit them?
ChrisC
IKEA manual doesn't even tell you to fit the gearstick which I think is needed for IVA :-)
Roy Blyth
Caterham IVA'd ours a couple of years ago and said that they leave the hood, sidescreens and mats off the car when presented. Might be different now though?
Tazio
Mats?, they are just something to trap moisture, cannot see the point of them, first thing I remove from a car.
7 wonders of the world
Just weigh the mats..... you will soon ditch them !
BrettJ
Thanks all, I think I'll just remove them for the IVA as they will most likely come out very soon afterwards.
7 wonders of the world
.....if you find the floor too slippery without them you can always add a couple of well placed strips of skate board tape
grumpy the 7th
Experience says that when there's over an inch of water in your foot wells on the Isle of Skye.Take them out and drill a couple of 1/8" holes to let the water (that collects under the mats, then over the mats) drain out. TomB
Surely if they're not there the IVA tester can't fail them? Just leave them out for the test?
ian.pursglove
For my test I had no mats or (definitely not) doors. If you have the doors on they have to withstand a side impact so don't have them on, mats cannot move and have to be fixed in place or absent. As for the hood, I was tempted to put it on just to see the tester struggle to get in but thought better of it...
