MadCat52
Went to start the 7 the other day after more than 3 months standing. Fired up first time, but the mechanical sympathy in me winced as the first 5 seconds or so the engine ran without any lubrication until the oil pressure came up to spec.I'd like to fit an ignition kill switch I can operate inside the car that allows me to crank the engine until the oil pressure reaches operating standard before firing.Anyone else done this? I'd like to know which wires to run where. Car is 2005 1.8K series with MEMS 3.CheersBob
Wrightpayne
Just pull the fuel pump fuse.
ScottR400D
Not sure if it's works with the K but I fired my 7 up yesterday, first time since early November. Just disconnected the Inertia switch, pressed the button 3-4 times for a few seconds each time, saw 1.5 bar pressure, reconnected the switch and pressed the button again. Started first time and stopped, then second time settled to an idle straight away. Didn't even need to get in the car.
Wrightpayne
Inertial switch kills the supply to the fuel pump so disconnecting the plug has the same effect as pulling the fuse but you dont have to take the bonnet off.
ScottR400D
It's still easier to get at IMO, but as I'd just completed a spanner check and reconnected the battery it didn't matter to me, the bonnet and nose were already off.
Wrightpayne
I'll bow to your better judgement...
