Al T
Hi all, having a few problems starting. She fires up eventually but is really hesitant, I’ve done all the obvious stuff. My question is that the choke is not connected up, and looks like it never has been. Is that the usual set up for this engine?

Matthew Willoughby
None of my VX Classics (I've had 4) had a choke so that is normal. The only time I had a starting issue, a new set of plugs solved it.
Al T
Thanks for clarifying the choke connection. It’s had new plugs and the carbs have been set up. I guess I need to delve into it a bit more. Thanks
paul_w
sorry to ask the obvious, but are you using the standard 'chokeless Weber method' of 4 prods on the throttle before starting? Doing this to squirt some fuel down the intake usually fires them up though of course they don't run nicely till they're warm. I also fitted a thermostat to mine which was a great help getting the engine up to temperature after starting it up - they came from the factory with no stat.
