K7 VCT
Enjoy your search, if you can stretch to a 270 sigma you can easily and cheaply get to 310 spec later. It will have a better 5 speed Mazda gearbox. View lots, drive many, whatever you get you will love it.
pkw2704
not sure my funds will stretch to one that new
simon_h
Could try the graduates website. Not that I can get it to work today lol. They have good priced sigma cars on there usually. If you don’t mind doing a bit of tidying that is
mandalman
not sure what a 'not massive' budget is but at a rough guess it would probably rule out most of the more modern sigma and duratec cars. If I were you I'd look at an ex acadmey racer or an older K Series car. Plenty of older K series cars with low mileage around that are just as good as the more modern Ford cars

cobaltcodd
Maybe a decent crossflow? Not under your remit of modern engine, but characterful and likely in your price bracket

fatal3rror
There are a number of 7ers in Leeds and around. In normal times, you would have been welcome to drop by to the monthly meet and get to know some of the options better. There is a Whatsapp group - if you message the AR Adrian, he can add you on to it.https://www.lotus7.club/area-meetings/yorkshire-west-and-pennines

Clive H
Hi. I'm not sure why you don't want a crossflow. I would prefer a crossflow to my K series. They are so simple to look after.I would actually prefer a live axle as well. A lot of deDions really hurt your ears!!Good luck with your search. 7 wonders of the world
Referring to some final drives which were badly built or remanufactured using pattern CWP's - get one built properly and they are silent which is as Ford built them. Clive H
I had mine fully rebuilt last year by Phil at R&R with "new" CW&P and its still painfully noisy. So even after a rebuild by the best in the business its still horrible!
7 wonders of the world
I'm guessing your 'new' CWP was not a genuine Ford set.....?

Clive H
Sorry, I seem to have steered this "chat" off piste a little! As for buying a Caterham, you have already crossed the biggest hurdle...Getting the wife to OK it!! Well done. That was a lot of brownie points used up!Like the rest of us (even with some moaning!) you will love it whatever you get. There's probably not one Seven out there that isn't great fun to drive. So keep looking and good luck with your search.
pkw2704
the problem is lockdown atm ,rather frustrating
7_Malc
I sympathise, but it does take time to find the right car for you. As for your frustration, imagine having a Seven of your own in the garage and not being able to drive it during lockdown. Have patience. Your time will come.
