Tazio
I've heard from a good source that Redline will soon be taking delivery of some cast alloy wet sumps they'll have for sale . They close for Xmas on the 18th so if you have a leaky one here's you chance to fix it.
revilla
The prototype was sent to me for inspection. They are very nicely made. Nice finish, accurately machined, I fitted it to a block and all the bolt holes aligned well enough that I could put the bolts onto their threads with fingers. When bolted down the rear flange was nicely flush with the block. Slightly deeper ribbing on the bottom than the original by a couple of mm. I would have happily fitted it to my engine. Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted December 17, 2020 Area Representative Share Posted December 17, 2020 I am minded to buy one, irrespective of the fact that mine does not leak. "Slightly deeper ribbing on the bottom than the original by a couple of mm."Who has not scraped more than a couple of mm of their sump pan? Tazio
Makes sense Stephen, as you know how rare these are, bird in the hand and all that.
Wrightpayne
I think investing in certain Caterham spare parts is as good as money in the bank! The sump pan is one of those items.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted December 17, 2020 Area Representative Share Posted December 17, 2020 The bit on the bottom of the engine I HAVE broken is the oil filter/pressure sensor mounting. That made for a bad day. This was on speed lumps (anti-speed lumps) on the ramp out of an underground car park. Done at less than 10 mph.
