A7 OOH
I am looking for mirrors for use on my X/flow with the doors removed which will give a more period look. What is available and has anyone tried out the "Clamp on" style of mirrors as below
Wrightpayne
Have you driven it with windscreen and without doors? You get battered by the air coming around the edge of the windscreen and it is most uncomfortable!Interchangeable brooklands is what you want! Roy Blyth
My 1980 car only has a windscreen mirror, but I do have to take the doors off and put one on it similar to the picture above, for the MoT. Driving without the doors for any great distance is a distinct no-no!

Olgawld
Im also looking around for a nice pair of chrome wing mirrors, but for a brooklands aeroscreen, if anyone likes to advise what they use. As for driving without doors, it certainly adds to the back to basics experience. I dont mind it on short trips but if planning on anything a bit more than an hour or so, stick the doors on! Olgawld
There was a good drawing and article in last month's low flying i think regarding the buffeting in the car with a windscreen and no doors.

KH7
I've been pondering this exact issue for a while myself over recent months. Been pondering the full Brookland style aero-screen option too but settled on this for now.......Finally got around to fitting some pre-loved aluminum bullet-style mirrors that I stumbled across on Ebay. Only managed a quick test drive so far and after 22+ years of driving with the doors on, I can confirm it's a very liberating experience. I might have a different word to describe it when I get to have a proper journey....I'll attempt to post a photo of the end result tomorrow. KH7
Had to make a small bracket from a piece of aluminum that bolts on to the inside of the stanchion using the 2 bolts from lower door fitting. Luckily the mirror had a single bolt that just fits behind the stanchion (So keeps everything else untouched). Easy to unbolt and refit the doors again if I need/want to.
